The Department of Science and Technology under the Ministry of Science and Technology acts as the nodal department for organising, coordinating, and promoting S&T activities in the country. One of the major activities of DST has been to support Grants-in-aid to Scientific Research Institutions, Scientific Associations, and bodies and fellowships to students & research scholars towards promoting research and innovation activities in the country. This is being fulfilled through the implementation of wide range of schemes/ programmes covering human and institutional capacity building, research and development, technology development, innovation & entrepreneurship, science & society linkage, etc. These schemes are designed with specific objectives to promote research and innovation in specific domain/field(s) for target stakeholders.
