Dr. Prem Shanker Goel Takes Over as Secretary Of Department of Ocean Development
 

The Director of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Satellite Centre, Bangalore, Dr. Prem Shanker Goel has taken over as the new Secretary of Department of Ocean Development. He succeeds Dr. Harsh K. Gupta who superannuated yesterday.

Dr. Goel has an impressive list of accomplishments and has been recognized both at home and abroad for his work in the development of satellite technology. He has initiated research and development for Satellite Control Systems and guided the country's space programme for decades with remarkable success, enabling India to become one of the leaders in this field. Dr. Goel is a professional engineer who has proven himself as a world class researcher, design engineer, developer of space processes and administrator providing leadership at the highest level. His research interests include fault tolerance, autonomy and miniaturization of space craft systems.

Dr. Goel's published works number about 110. He is a member of a number of national and international professional bodies. He has also won a number of awards including the Padamshree in 2001.
