This was announced by the President of the ISC2009, Dr. T Ramasami at the concluding session of the 96th Indian Science Congress at NEHU in Shillong today. The Mega Science event which was attended by close to 4000 delegates saw several thought provoking deliberations by budding scientists in subjects related to the theme "Science Education and Attraction of Talent for Excellence in Research". The Science Congress concluded making eleven specific recommendations.

Addressing the gathering at the closing ceremony, the Chief Guest Prof. V.L Chopra, Member Planning Commission expressed satisfaction that the scientific community had made efforts to make specific recommendations which, he said, could be taken forward.

In his address, UGC Chairman, Dr. Sukhdeo Thorat congratulated the Science Congress for having deliberated upon an appropriate theme, particularly when the higher education is emerging as the thrust area. Listing several measures taken by the Government in this direction including enhancement of scholarships, grants as well as salaries to students and teachers, he expressed hope that science education will soon revive.

Several students and S&T organizations were awarded on the occasion for the projects they displayed at the different exhibitions during the event. CSIR's Project-800 was awarded as the most innovative display.
