The Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology, has announced the winners of the National Awards for Outstanding In-house R&D Achievements (2008), in various groups/areas/categories of Industry. Following are the details:

Dorf Ketal Chemicals (I) Pvt. Ltd. a Mumbai based company was awarded in the category of Physical & Biological sciences for developing Method for prevention of fouling in basic solution by inhibiting polymerisation in basic solution and solubilizing deposits using amino acids.

Troikaa Pharmaceuticals Ltd. a Ahmedabad based company also got the award in the category of Physical & Biological sciences for developing Novel Drug Delivery System for parenteral Diclofenac.

In the category of Electronics & ICT based industries, Webel Mediatronics Ltd. of Kolkata was awarded for Development of computerized Braille system consisting of Electronic tactile reader & Read Braille software, Audio supported Braille keyboard & Braille writer software and WIMATS – Mathematics Braille software.

In the category of Engineering Industries, Sahajanand Laser Technology Ltd., Gandhinagar was awarded for developing High Power 1KW fiber laser cutting machine with linear motor and CNC bruiting with fiber laser (Gizmo). System Controls, Bangalore was also awarded in the same category for developing Pedestal for Bharani , Azimuth Over Elevation Positioner , IGLA Pedestal, Pan/Tilt Platform and Pedestal for Aslesha.

Transparent Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd. a Pune based company was awarded in the category of Clean Energy & Climate change for developing Power generation from waste heat in cement plant.
