A Good Spell of Thunderstorm Activity over Northwest India Towards Weekend

Under the influence of a western disturbance & its induced low level cyclonic circulation and moisture incursion from Arabian Sea, northwest India is experiencing isolated thunderstorm activity for the last two days. The current meteorological analysis suggests that this activity is likely to continue till 3rd April, 2008.

Interpretation of various numerical weather prediction models and synoptic analysis indicate that another western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India during 4th to 6th April, 2008. Consequently, the rain / thundershowers activity over the entire region (i.e. Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan) is likely to increase and will become fairly widespread. Isolated thundersquall accompanied with hail are also likely during this period.

In view of this rain/thundershower activity, maximum temperatures are likely to fall further over northwest India till weekend.
