Kapil Sibal Meets President of International Court of Justice

Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Shri Kapil Sibal, who is on a two-day bilateral visit to the Netherlands, met the President of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Judge Rosalyn Higgins. The ICJ is the highest judicial organ of the United Nations with its seating the Hague.

Judge Higgins emphasized the increasing importance of the Court in the resolution of disputes. She also appreciated India's contribution over the years. President of the ICJ lauded the support of the Govt. of India to the ICJ and recalled the great contributions made by Indian members of the Court. The Court is also presently grappling with the issues of applicability of international law in the enforcement of municipal laws,

During the visit Shri Kapil Sibal will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding for co-operation in the field of Science, Technology and Innovation with the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs H.E. Ms Maria van der Hoeven
