Total Eclipse of The Moon to be Visible in some parts of India

A total eclipse of the Moon will occur in the early morning of Thursday, the 21st February 2008 (2 Phalguna 1929 Saka Era) from 0713 Hrs to 1039 Hrs IST.

The eclipse is visible in the region covering Arctic, western parts of Asia, most of Arabia, Africa except Madagascar, Europs and the Americas.

The beginning of the umbral phase will be visible from the Indian Ocean, Crozet Island, Mauritius, Maldives, extreme north Western tip of Indian and western parts of Russia. The ending will be visible from the Pacific ocean, western parts of Alaska and extreme north eastern parts of Russia.

Visibility in India

The partial phase of the eclipse will only be visible at the extreme north-western parts of India at the time of beginning of the eclipse. The circumstances of the eclipse are as follows :

The Moon enters penumbra at h.6-05 I.S.T.

The Moon leaves penumbra at h. 11-47 I.S.T.
