at Science Congress |

President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam presented
the young scientists award for 13 young scientists at the
Indian Science Congress at Annamalai University, Chidambaram
on January 5, 2007. The award carry Rs. 25,000/- cash and
Rs. 10,000/- added by the host Annamalai University to each
awardee.
The awardees were selected for their contribution on Science
and Technology. Dr. D. N. Kambrekar, Dharwad, a research scholar
was selected for the award for the development of Bio Control
strategies for the management of sugarcane Woolly aphid in
the Department of Agricultural Entomology University of Agricultural
Sciences.
Ms. Kuhali Biswas, a research Scholar in the North Eastern
Hill University, Shillong was selected for the award for the
physiological significance of Expression of Nitric Oxide Synthase
Isoforms, and the influence of Osmotic and Oxidative Stress
on the Production of Nitric Oxide in the Air breathing catfish.
Dr. Nallusamy Anandaraja, a scholar in the Agricultural University,
Coimbatore TamilNadu was selected for the award for Use of
Information and Communication Technologies in Agriculture.
He has also received Nations Post Graduate Agricultural Research
Award by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. He developed
Farmer Friendly Interactive Multimedia Compact Disc and testing
its effectiveness in Transfer of Farm Technology .
Dr. Vinod Kumar, a research scholar in Heterocyclic Compounds
has presented seven research papers in National and International
Journals. He was selected for the Award for research on Synthesis
and NMR. Spectoral Studies of some Azoles.
Dr. Rajeev Saraswat from the Aligarh Muslim University was
selected for the Award based on his research on Tracing the
Geologic Extent of Hypoxia off the Central West Coast of India.His
research work is focused on the development and evaluation
of techniques for understanding Climatic changes in the past.
He used the changes in the morphological characteristics and
elemental and isotopic composition of marine micro organisms.
Dr. P. R. Gogate, who is presently with the Institute of
Chemical Technology, Mumbai was selected for the Award for
A Novel Tool for Process Intensification
Dr. Manish Tiwari was awarded the Ph.D Scholarship by physical
Research Lab, Department of Space. His work on maritime sediment
cores from Arabian Sea documented the past variations in the
intensity of Indian monsoon using isotopic variations in planktons.
He was selected for the Award for his contributions on Southwest
Monsoon History for the Past - 19 ka from the Western Arabian
Sea.
Parhta Sarathi Mandal a research fellow in Computer Science
at Jadavpur University is associated with a project on Sensor
Network Management: A Geometric Approach in Advanced Computing
and Micro electronics Unit of Indian Statistical Institute
Kolkatta. He was selected for the Award for his research projects
on Mobile Agent based Checkpointing in Distributed Systems
with Arbitrary Topology.
Ms. Diksha Kaushik , presently a Senior Research Fellow of
the CSIR, New Delhi .She is specializing in nano materials
and self organized semi conductor Q-Dots. She has published
over five research publications in international journals
of repute. She was selected for her studies on Self Organised
ZnSe Quantum Dots on Ito ands GaAs(001) Substrates.
Dr. Chandan Chakraborthy from the Department of Mathematics,
IIT Kharagpur was selected for the award for his contribution
of fuzzy clustering technique based on fuzzy distance measure
under group decision making. He is a research fellow of IIT
Kharagpur.
Dr.S.Vidhyadhara, was selected on the basis of his contribution
for research on Juxta Articular Aggressive and Recurrent Giant
Cell Tumours: Resection Arthrodesis using Bone Transport Over
an Intramedullary Hail.
Mr. Nihar Ranjan Jena was presented the award for Quantum
Computation and Drug Design . He has recently designed two
anti cancer drugs that may prove immensely useful to the Society.
He also planned to cultivate scientific temper among school
children by organizing periodic popular scientific lectures
and by generating various other activities for their benefit.
Dr. Shuba Vij from the Interdisciplinary Centre for Plant
Genomics and Department of Plant Molecular Biology University
of Delhi has won the award for Genome Wide Analysis and Functional
Characterisation of OsiSAPI-Related Abiotic Stres Responsive
Genes from Rice.
The Governor of Tamil Nadu Shri. Surjeet Singh Barnala, Dr.
Harsh Gupta the first Geo Physicist and the General President
of Indian Science Congress Association, renowned international
Scientists and a lot of young and experienced scientists participated
at the Conference. Earlier President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalaam
released a booklet on The History of Science in India.
