a film that showcases Indian Science and Technology. The film is a part of the
innovative year long campaign announced by the Ministry and the National Geographic
Channel earlier this year to promote Indian Science and Technology. Speaking
on the occasion, Shri Sibal said that the country is making great strides in the
field of science and technology today, innovation and creativity are the most
important assets for our future. Through this programme, we want to create more
awareness amongst the people of our country, especially children about our achievements
in this field and to encourage the spirit of scientific inquiry, he added. The
48-minute film is an eclectic mix of scientific achievements across India and
presents various innovations made by well known Indian scientists and some unknown
inventors in an interesting travelogue format. Science Safari is a celebration
of the spirit of innovation that inhabits the cities and towns of India. It showcases
the spirit of innovation and discovery in the fields of biotechnology, drugs,
medicines, stem cells, agriculture, genetic engineering, education, bio-processing,
manufacturing, non conventional energy and more. The film will premiere
on the National Geographic Channel on 26th September and will also be telecast
on Doordarshan. Both Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Geographic
Channel will promote the film extensively with the film being telecast in Hindi
and English initially and then later being dubbed in other Indian regional languages
to reach out to a wider audience pan India. With the Science Safari campaign,
the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Geographic Channel aim
to reach out to the thinking individuals and inquisitive minds who are in constant
pursuit of new ideas. These would include school students and those pursuing university
degrees in the field of medicine, engineering and technology.
