India is emerging as an important R&D destination
in the world because a solution found here has a market larger
than two or three western countries. This was stated by the
Union Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences,
Shri Kapil Sibal while chairing the session on India-The
R&D Destination during the ongoing three-day conference
on Mind to Market, here today. Shri Sibal said
advantage of affordable human resource base available in India
is attracting competitive global market to fulfill consumer
desires of the best possible product at the cheapest possible
prices.
Earlier speaking on the occasion, Shri Ashish Gupta , COO
and Country Head, Evalueserve said that for India, it is not
the journey from mind to market but from mind to mindset and
then to market. Quoting Indian believes, Shri Gupta said making
money, using knowledge is not considered good. This mindset
has to be changed to make the pace of research and development
activity in India rapid which is gaining momentum.
Prof. Chris Henshall, Pro-Vice Chancellor External Relations,
University of York,UK, Dr. Dr. Tony Hey, Corporate Vice-President
Technical Computing, Microsoft Corporation and the former
French Ambassador Benard de Montferrand in India also presented
the current R&D trends in their respective countries.
The three-day event is focusing on India as the R&D hub.
