Will the Minister of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY be pleased to
state:
(a) whether it is a fact that Government are considering
to seek assistance from Canada in the field of research:
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether any discussion has been held between both the
countries in this
regard; and
(d) if so, by when a final decision in this regard is likely
to be taken?

CHARGE) OF THE DEPARTMENT OF OCEAN DEVELOPMENT

(a) to (d): No, Sir. However, India and Canada have concluded
an inter-governmental agreement at Toronto on 18th November,
2005 facilitating joint scientific and technological cooperation.
Nano-Science & Nano-Technology; Sustainable Energy; Biomedical
Technologies; Infortainment; and Natural Disasters & Earth
Sciences have been identifies as priority areas of cooperation.
