the Minister of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state: (a)
whether India and China are keen to form a Joint Steering Committee of the two
countries for promoting joint venture in the field of Science and Technology;
(b) if so, the details thereof; (c)
whether any agreement has been signed with China in this regard; and (d)
if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER
OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY AND
MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE DEPARTMENT OF OCEAN DEVELOPMENT (SHRI
KAPIL SIBAL) (a) Yes, Sir. (b) to
(d): Minister of State (Science & Technology and Ocean Development) and the
visiting State Councillor from China, during their Meeting in New Delhi held on
November 17, 2004, agreed to set up a Joint Steering Committee in Science and
Technology with Minister of State (Science & Technology and Ocean Development)
and the Chinese Minister for Science and Technology as the Co-Chairman to promote
Science and Technology cooperation between the two countries. This was further
reiterated in a Joint Statement signed during the recent visit of the Chinese
Premier to India by the two Prime Ministers. No agreement has been signed. |
