3607. DR. ARUN KUMAR SARMA:

Will the Minister of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
be pleased to state :

(a) whether the Government is considering to take over the Centre for Plasma Physics, Guwahati;

(a) if so, the details thereof; and
(b) the time by which the proposal is likely to be materialized?

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY AND MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE DEPARTMENT OF OCEAN DEVELOPMENT.

(a) Yes sir.

(b) The Expert Committee has recommend transfer of Centre for Plasma Physics Guwahati, Assam from State Govt to Central Government. The Draft Cabinet paper has been circulated and the final Cabinet paper will be placed for consideration of the Cabinet with clarification on comments received from various Department/Ministries.

(c) Efforts are being made to obtain approval of the Cabinet by the end of Current financial year.
