STATE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMME
1436. SHRIMATI VIPLOVE THAKUR:

Will the Minister of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state:

(a) the achievement made under `State Science and Technology Programme' in each State particularly, in Himachal Pradesh during the last three years;
(b) location-wise details of hospital waste disposal systems, water purification systems, decentralized energy generation systems and surface engineering systems set up under the programme in Himachal Pradesh during the last three years; and
(c) the funds allocated by Government for the purpose during the said period, State-wise, including Himachal Pradesh, year-wise?

(a) Under the State Science and Technology Programme, activities have been consolidated through state science and technology councils/departments in all the States including Himachal Pradesh for supporting location specific research and technology development programmes, science and technology demonstration projects, scientific studies/surveys and organization of interactions/workshops on specialized scientific topics of relevance to States. In Himachal Pradesh, the Council has successfully completed a study on mapping of Science and Technology needs and setting up of a demonstration plant for disposal of hospital-cum-plastic waste on plasma pyrolysis technology for standardizing the parameters.

(b) A demonstration plant based on plasma pyrolysis technology has been completed at Municipal Council, Dharamshala. Also, an atmospheric pressure plasma etching system has been set up at Kullu for surface modification of angora wool fibres under Technology Development Programme of the Department. The Department has not received any request for setting up water purification and decentralised energy generation systems from Himachal Pradesh under this programme.

(c) A statement detailing financial assistance provided to States/Union Territories including Himachal Pradesh under State Science and Technology Programme during last three years is attached.
