DETAILS OF ONGOING SCHEMES IN U.P.

Will the Minister of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state:

(a) the details of ongoing schemes and projects of the Ministry in Uttar Pradesh;

(b) the details of complaints and suggestions received in regard thereto;

(c) the action taken thereon and amount involved in each scheme/project; and

(d) whether the full allocated budget allocation was spent by the Ministry during the last three years?

(a) Under the ongoing Plan Schemes of the Ministry, a large number of research / demonstration projects have been implemented in Uttar Pradesh, in the areas of science and engineering research; bioinformatics; plant, animal, rural, agriculture and marine biotechnology; biodiversity conservation and environment; consultancy clinics; science popularization; biofuels; hospital waste management; drug and pharma; drinking water; rural entrepreneurship; women specific occupational health etc. In addition to providing grant-in-aid to universities / national laboratories in Uttar Pradesh, the Department of Science and Technology provides financial assistance to Council of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh, to promote S&T activities at State level.

(c) Does not arise.

(d) The Ministry provides grant-in-aid to universities/ national laboratories/ NGOs etc. based on peer review system. The Ministry does not have any provision for State-wise allocation.
