RADHAKRISHNAN: Will the Minister of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY be pleased to
state: (a) the details of Research Institutes and other institutes of national
and international standards proposed to be set up during the Eleventh Plan; (b)
whether the Government is considering setting up of a National Institute on Applied
Research, Development and Production of materials like silicon at Thiruvananthapuram;
and (c) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF SCIENCE
AND TECHNOLOGY AND MINISTER OF EARTH SCIENCES (KAPIL SIBAL) (a)
Yes, Sir. Setting up of new Institutes of Nano-science and Technology at Mohali,
Punjab; National Agribiotechnology Institute at Mohali, Punjab; and Stem Cell
Institute at Bangaluru by Ministry of Science and Technology have been approved
during the Eleventh Plan by the Government of India. (b) Ministry of Science
and Technology has no proposal for setting up of National Institute on Applied
Research, Development and Production of materials like silicon. (c) Does not
arise. |
