Vigilance Unit

The Vigilance Unit in the Department of Science & Technology is headed by a Deputy Secretary rank officer working as the Chief Vigilance Officer supported by an Under Secretary and other Secretarial Staff.

The Unit had drawn Annual Action Plan of activities for the year 1999-2000, which was also submitted, to the Central Vigilance Commission. As per the Plan, the Unit conducted Vigilance Inspection of the General Administration Sections and the Guest House of the Department. A Vigilance Inspection of the Survey of India Headquarters, Dehradun was also conducted. During the year, 13 Vigilance Cases and 32 Complaints were dealt with. All the complaints have been taken up for investigation. While investigations in 20 complaints have been closed investigations are continuing in respect of the remaining complaints The Unit also maintained the Annual Confidential Reports and Immovable Property Returns in respect of all the employees. Data regarding immovable property has been computerised.
