Vigilance Unit
The Vigilance Unit in the Department
of Science & Technology is headed by an Advisor rank officer
working as the Chief Vigilance Officer, supported by an Under
Secretary and other secretarial staff.
Apart from handling of Vigilance Cases of the Department,
its Subordinate Offices and Aided Institutions, it deals with
the complaints received by the Department. Vigilance Unit
also annually plans Vigilance Inspections of aforesaid Institutions
randomly to cover two or more institutions for such activities.
During the current year, as per the approved plan, inspection
of Agharkar Research Institute, Pune has been carried out
and two more inspections are proposed to be undertaken.
Vigilance Unit furnished report/returns relating to the Department
on vigilance matters to various agencies like CVC, CBI, and
DP&T etc. Out of the 27 ongoing complaint cases dealt
by the Unit, 15 cases of complaint have been finalized. 12
complaints are still in process of investigation. There were
14 ongoing vigilance cases and one case has now finally been
decided. The Department maintains Agreed List and List of
Officers of doubtful integrity of gazetted status.
In accordance with the directions of CVC, the Department observed
Vigilance Awareness Week during 01.11.2004 to 06.11.2004.
Various competitions were organized during this week in the
Department, Subordinate Offices and Aided Institutions. Towards
a better interaction on vigilance activities, a meeting of
Heads of Institutions was convened and chaired by the CVO.
Other miscellaneous activities viz. identification of sensitive
posts, rotational transfer thereon in the organization and
its subsidiaries is being taken care as regular phenomenon.
